Danielle R. Luisi is a trial attorney who focuses her practice on the defense of civil litigation, with an emphasis on toxic tort and asbestos claims. She is part of a trial team for an international steel company, and defends product liability and premises-related asbestos cases in Illinois. Ms. Luisi is skilled in consulting with expert witnesses, deposing witnesses, researching and drafting motions, negotiating favorable settlements, and assisting in discovery and trial preparation.

Legal Experience: Prior to joining Matushek Nilles LLC, Ms. Luisi worked in the civil and criminal bureaus of the Cook County State's Attorney's Office as an Assistant State's Attorney. Ms. Luisi represented the victims of crimes in the community taking numerous cases to trial at the felony and misdemeanor level, ranging from traffic violations, drug and weapon offenses, theft, and violent crimes. She then practiced with a civil litigation firm for more than three years in the defense of mass torts, where she gained significant courtroom experience.

Professional Associations and Activities:  Ms. Luisi is a member of the Defense Research Institute, Chicago Bar Association, and the Women's Bar Association of Illinois. Outside of the office, Ms. Luisi enjoys distance running and playing golf and tennis. She also serves as a junior board member of the greater Illinois chapter of the Alzheimer's Association.

Education: Danielle Luisi earned her B.A., summa cum laude, in 2007 from Washington & Jefferson College. She obtained her J.D. in 2010 from Loyola University Chicago School of Law. During law school, Ms. Luisi was one of ten students awarded the Philip H. Corboy Fellowship in Trial Advocacy, where she earned individual and team awards in trial advocacy competitions across the country. She also served as assistant editor of the Public Interest Law Reporter and was co-chair of the Public Interest Law Society.
