Amy M. Callaghan is a partner with Matushek Nilles LLC with several years of solid experience in the successful defense of asbestos personal injury and occupational injury claims, licensed in both Illinois and Missouri. She also has the technical expertise acquired in the defense of complex construction defect claims.
Legal Experience: Ms. Callaghan has provided sophisticated defenses to manufacturers, distributors and contractors in asbestos personal injury actions, and defended product manufacturers in product liability cases, and represented contractors in construction negligence cases to favorable resolution on behalf of our clients.
Amy Callaghan is adept in developing an early defense strategy to achieve the successful resolution of cases, and is skilled in negotiation at pre-trial conferences, comparing and leveraging against prior settlements to lower settlement values. Ms. Callaghan has personally investigated sites of alleged exposures, and has several years’ experience in preparing clients’ corporate representatives for deposition. She has deposed parties and other fact witnesses, treating physicians and experts, including taking lead at discovery depositions of plaintiffs’ experts.
Ms. Callaghan also has a wealth of experience in drafting and responding to discovery requests, including working with the client to formulate answers and objections to achieve consistency with their past responses. She interacts and coordinates with clients, in-house and national counsel, through regular updates and reporting.

Education: Amy Callaghan earned her Juris Doctor from the University of Illinois College of Law. While in law school, she received Distinction of Honors in Legal Research. Ms. Callaghan received her Bachelor of Arts in Political Science and Sociology in 2007 from the University of Michigan.
